What are the common causes and consequences of revolutions? To what extend does revolution bring about change and how does it affect ordinary people?
The common causes of a revolution is a financial crisis which impacted majority citizens for a period of time, but with no solution. Due to this problem, the government uses high taxation, which people with lowest income will suffer. Daily basic needs will become extremely expensive, while wages will be decreasing. It also includes the belief of the people that the higher class has all the power and wealth, while the rest are treated in a poor lifestyle, and lacking or having no human rights, which may spark an outrage and cause a revolution / rebellion. These factors are easily seen from the French Revolution, where France was in a bad financial state, and low class citizens were having a bad time without any turn for the better. They also lacked political power and freedom of speech, upsetting the citizens of France and wanting to change their lives if the government system isn't going to help but instead to do the opposite.
The common consequences of a revolution is having a unstable or no government after it was overthrown, and that no one could take its place, making original matters worst. It may also result in war, plunging the state into a war zone, where citizens may longer be safe and have to flee as refugees. In war, there is always a high price as you need military resources, using a lot of money, and needing human resources, where they will get hurt or die in the battlefield. We can see from the event "rein of terror" in the French revolution, where tens of thousands of people loss their life in that period of time, shortly having Napoleon rise to power. After having a revolution, the country / state may be rather weak, being easily vulnerable to other countries to manipulate and attack from, where other countries may gain advantage and there is nothing the revolution-recovering country / state can do about it.
In conclusion, revolutions can bring good and bad change, but it could also change ordinary people's lifestyle for the better if the revolution was successful and if it was reforming greatly. However, if it was not successful and a failure, it could bring devastating effects to the people, and causing a lot of destruction to the nation which may need a long time in order to be restored.
